Vogue Hommes. No. 43. Octobre 1981

Paris: Les Éditions Condé Nast, 1981. Quarto, publisher's photo-illustrated wraps.

October 1981 issue of the French menswear magazine, featuring a cover photo of Donald Sutherland. Launched in 1979 by Gérald Asaria and Jacqueline Degioanni, Vogue Hommes was one of several international publications that appeared during the men’s fashion mag revolution, unofficially initiated by visionary art director Flavio Lucchini’s L’Uomo Vogue. While male readers had been targeted since the early 1960s, the gay rights movement, shifting visions of male identity, and the burgeoning Italian menswear industry led to a boom in fashion mags for men in the late 70s and 80s. Published biannually, Vogue Hommes continues to promote progressive conceptualizations of men’s fashion, showcase menswear collections from top designers, and celebrate male beauty. Profusely illustrated in color and black-and-white. Text in French. Air mail sticker to upper wrap. Some creasing and rubbing. Very good. Item #6049
