Houston, TX: Women's Action Coalition, 1992. Measures 22.5" chest, 28" length, white cotton short sleeve, tag reads Hanes Beefy-T, X Large.
T-shirt for Women’s Action Coalition's demonstration against the 1992 Republican National Convention at Houston's Astrodome. The convention nominated George H.W. Bush as the Republican candidate for the presidency, along with his running mate Dan Quayle. WAC was formed in the wake of Anita Hill's testimony in the confirmation hearings for Supreme Court justice Clarence Thomas, with the express purpose of staging direct actions at sexual assault trials. Their logo, featured on the back of the present shirt, was a large blue dot, mirroring the dots placed over the faces of victims of sexual assault on television news reports. Rallies against the RNC were held at the Astrodome and at Houston's Menil Museum, where artists and curators demonstrated in solidarity with WAC. Lightly worn. Item #5918
