WilliWear Productions, c.1985. Measures 21.5" chest, 27.25" length, white cotton short sleeve.
T-shirt designed by Robert Rauschenberg for Rauschenberg Overseas Culture Interchange (ROCI), a large-scale international traveling exhibition (1984-1990) that doubled as a cultural exchange program. The t-shirt was produced by influential streetwear designer Willi Smith’s WilliWear Productions. Inspired by Smith’s roots in New York’s downtown art scene and his desire to bring art into daily life, the "street couture" brand collaborated with artists to create what some consider the first mass-produced artist t-shirts and the prototype for many future streetwear collaborations. No tag, WilliWear logo printed to side of shirt. Lightly worn. Item #5913
