Vintage t-shirt by British terrible twosome Gilbert & George for influential streetwear designer Willi Smith’s WilliWear Productions. "We always say we make a kind of moralogue: good people, bad people, what should be changed, sexuality, unhappiness, drunkenness, religion, politics — all included, all what’s inside human beings, not the abstract art that doesn’t offend anybody" (Gilbert, in a later interview). Inspired by Smith’s roots in New York’s downtown art scene and his desire to bring art into daily life, the "street couture" brand collaborated with artists to create what some consider the first mass-produced artist t-shirts and the prototype for many future streetwear collaborations. WilliWear logo printed to side of shirt. Unworn. Item #5901
