Item #5862 Bright Lights, Big City. Jay McInerney.

Bright Lights, Big City

New York: Vintage Books, 1984. 1st Edition. 12mo, publisher's neon and photo-illustrated black stiff paper wraps.

First printing of McInerney's first novel, preceding the first hardcover edition. Along with the debuts of fellow Brat Packers Bret Easton Ellis and Tama Janowitz, Bright Lights epitomized the club and drug-fueled literary response to the anomie of the Reagan years. The film version, produced by Sydney Pollack and directed by James Bridges (The China Syndrome, Urban Cowboy), starred Michael J. Fox, Phoebe Cates, Kiefer Sutherland, Jason Robards and Dianne Wiest. Light creasing to wraps, some toning to text block. Very good. Item #5862
