London: Danilo Promotions Ltd., 1984. Tall folio, publisher's white wire spiral-bound photo-illustrated stiff paper wraps (measures 18" x 12.5").
1985 wall calendar dedicated to German Neue Deutsche Welle band Nena. Formed in 1982 by lead singer "Nena" (born Gabriele Kerner) and her boyfriend at the time drummer Rolf Brendel, the band found international acclaim with their 1983 anti-war anthem "99 Luftballons." The song was such a success that in 1984 they decided to record an English-language version, "99 Red Balloons," which while an immediate hit, the band regretted producing (to this day they refuse to perform it during revival shows). While Nena-the-band dissolved in 1987, Kerner has since become the most successful German pop singer in chart history. This calendar was produced on the heels of their "99 Red Balloons" fame and features studio portraits of all the original band members (Kerner, Brendel, Carlo Karges, Uwe Fahrenkrog-Petersen, and Jürgen Dehmel) along with promotional photos for their eponymous international album. Illustrated in full-color. Some edgewear to cardstock wraps. Very good. Item #5787
