Berliner, who escaped Nazi-occupied Germany first for Switzerland, then New York, published work in Harpers, the Saturday Evening Post, the Times, New York Magazine, Natural History Magazine, and more. The present collection, published shortly before his death, gathers Berliner's noncommercial work from the late 1950s through the mid-60s, predominantly New York City scenes, ass well as scenes from Italy, Paris, and Berlin.
