Beverly Hills: Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, 1975. One-sheet black-and-white photo-illustrated poster (measures 27" x 41").
One-sheet movie poster promoting Italian filmmaker Michelangelo Antononioni’s existential neo-noir drama, starring Jack Nicholson and Maria Schneider. One of many of the master’s deeply pessimistic love stories, the film tells the story of David Locke, a jaded television journalist who swaps identities with a dead businessman who turns out to be an arms dealer. Produced while Antonioni was at a professional crossroads between art house and Hollywood, the film received critical and commercial indifference, and was quickly overshadowed by the major success of Nicholson’s Oscar winning performance in One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest released that same year. While initially the film’s political significance and artistic thrust was misunderstood, specifically by American critics, it has since assumed an important place in Antonioni's oeuvre. Issued folded as number 75/94. Light creasing. Near fine. Item #5259
