New York: Museum of Modern Art, 1946. 1st Edition. Quarto, publisher's yellow cloth, spine stamped in black, upper board stamped in black and green, illustrated endpapers, original illustrated dust jacket.

First edition catalog published in conjunction with a show of work by the French-Russian artist at MoMA. The catalog includes a biographical-critical essay by Sweeney and a brief article on Chagall’s prints by Carl O. Schniewind, curator of prints at the Art Institute of Chicago. Illustrated with 80 black-and-white plates (three in color); with bibliography. Bookplate to upper pastedown. Minor soiling to cloth and endpapers; some soiling and light edgewear to unclipped dust jacket. Very good. Item #5218
