Filmmakers Newsletter. Carl Linder, Suni Mallow, and publisher, founder.

Filmmakers Newsletter. Vol. 2, No. 11

New York: Suncraft International, 1969. Quarto, publisher's stapled photo-illustrated stiff paper wraps.

September 1969 issue of Filmmakers Newsletter, the esteemed monthly bulletin devoted to the art of cinema. Founded by experimental filmmaker Carl Linder in 1967 out of the Filmmakers Cinémathèque (now Anthology Archives Film) as New York Filmmakers Newsletter, the publication was established to share information on screenings while also analyzing the technical aspects and development of avant-garde films. Film enthusiast and journalist Suni Mallow was designated editor in early 1968; she removed “New York” from the title and assumed a more expansive approach to the world of experimental cinema. Over the course of publication contributors included filmmakers Jonas Mekas, Stan Brakhage, Bruce Conner, George Maciunas, Hollis Frampton, Standish Lawder, Alan Lomax, and animator Bill Plympton, who was a staff member in 1970. Illustrated in black-and-white. Item #4791
