Los Angeles: Rho-Delta, 1975. 1st Edition. Small quarto, publisher's stiff illustrated paper wraps.
Scarce first edition of photographer, actor, stage designer, director, and writer Roy Dean’s series of nude physique photography. After moving to New York from England in the 1950s, Dean worked predominantly in the theater world before turning to photography in the mid-60s. He published his first collection of erotic photos, A Time in Eden, in 1969, which collected his snapshots of nude men in the Caribbean Islands. Since then, Dean helped popularize mainstream depictions of the male nude. Within the world of erotic photography, his work became recognizable for his use of statuesque models posing in natural landscapes. Illustrated in black-and-white. Light rubbing to edges. Near fine.
