Facsimile reprint edition of this collection of Mexican archeological and anthropological artifacts from the collection of the Museo Nacional de Antropología, originally done in lithgopraphy by German artist and antiquarian Jean Frédéric Waldeck. Published on the occasion of the centenary of the exceptionally rare first edition of 1827, this collection was the first of many such works by Waldeck on Aztec and Mayan iconography. Illustrated with 13 black-and-white plates, as well as a facsimile of the original title-page and publisher's prospectus; with an introduction by historian Luis Castillo Ledón. Text in Spanish. Light wear to wraps, with upper wrap split at head of spine and pulling away from textblock but sound. Very good. Item #4595
