Parkett. No. 83

Zurich: Parkett-Verlag, 2008. Quarto, publisher's stiff illustrated wraps.

"It is rare to see pure acts of love in print but this is one of them. The world is a better place for Parkett" (Lou Reed). Issue 18 of the acclaimed Swiss visual arts journal. Co-founded in the early 1980s by leftist student-turned-curator Bice Curiger, Jacqueline Burckhardt, and Dieter von Graffenried, the magazine began as a DIY effort (Curiger’s mother embroidered the logo) to foster dialogue among the artistic communities of Europe and America. Published quarterly, each issue was produced in collaboration with an artist who contributes an original work. The magazine ceased publication in 2017 with its 100th issue, owing to "the radical change in reading behavior brought about by our digital age." This issue was made in collaboration with Robert Frank, Wade Guyton, and Christopher Wool, all three NYC artists who work predominantly in black-and-white; with an insert by German artist Kerstin Brätsch. Profusely illustrated in color and black-and-white. Text in English and German. Fine. Item #4591
