Walk on the Wild Side

New York: Barricade Books, 1995. 1st Edition. Quarto, publisher's black cloth covered boards, spine stamped in silver, black endpapers, original illustrated dust jacket.

First edition of photographer Jeanette Jones’s survey of the late 1980s London drag scene. Jones was a housewife turned self-taught photographer when by chance a transgender woman, Ambrose, approached her to compliment her jacket. The two became friends and Ambrose introduced Jones to her friends in London’s queer nightlife scene. Notably, Jones was the first to capture the women of London’s iconic cabaret club Madame Jo Jo’s. Illustrated with black-and-white photos. Light edgewear to unclipped dust jacket, else fine. Item #4163
