The Watergate Cookbook. N. Y. Alplaus, Tom Donnelly, introduction.

The Watergate Cookbook

Charlestown, MA: Emporium Publications, 1973. 1st Paperback Edition.

First paperback edition of this satirical collection of recipes inspired by the Watergate scandal, written under the pseudonym N.Y. Alplaus, an anonymous author rumored to have close ties to the event. Detailed recipes and instructions for every occasion, including “Key Biscayne Cocktail,” “Alch’s Cool Cucumber Salad,” and “Ehrlichman’s Cover Up Casserole.” Published in 1973 during the height of Nixon’s impeachment process that would eventually lead to his resignation in 1974. With an introduction by editor Tom Donnelly about his experience with the manuscript. Rubbing to edges, light fading to spine, white-out over printed price on upper panel, along with a ladybug sticker (which almost matches the ladybug illustrations throughout the book). Good.
