New York: Caught Looking, Inc., 1986. 1st Edition. Quarto, publisher's stapled photo-illustrated stiff paper wraps.
The Feminist Anti-Censorship Task Force’s (FACT) first and final zine. Formed in 1984, FACT was an action group organized in opposition to radical feminists Catherine MacKinnon and Andrea Dworkin’s attempts to legally prohibit the production and sale of pornography with their proposed Minneapolis Anti-Pornography Ordinance. This creative counter to the antipornography ethos of the era is a record of the committee's main arguments against what they perceived as an increasingly puritanical, right-wing stance on women’s rights, a historical overview of pornography with a diverse range of images from various traditions, and a collage of collectivized political art that overtly challenged what is considered to be "sexual," and thus potentially illegal, material. Extensively illustrated with black-and-white photos and reproductions; with a bibliography and contributor bios. One of 5000 unnumbered copies. Some rubbing to wraps. Very good. Item #3131
