American Girl. June 1969

New York: Girl Scouts of America, 1969. Quarto, publisher's stapled photo-illustrated wraps.

June 1969 issue of Girl Scouts of America’s American Girl magazine. Published from 1917 to 1979, the magazine was originally called The Rally and then The American Girl before later dropping the "The" (although it has no association with the American Girl brand’s own publication). Each issue is wholesomely illustrated in color and black-and-white with official Girl Scouts coverage, fictional stories, jokes, advice columns, recipes (a sugar cookie recipe featured in a 1922 issue is what launched the cookie selling revolution), fashion news and editorials, makeup and beauty tips, and numerous vintage ads in 60s style. This issue’s cover girl is Tricia Nixon, daughter of then freshly inaugurated Richard, and is centered around "girl-talk about fathers," while including numerous fashion features catering to the summer season. Mailing label to upper wrap. Surface abrasion to upper wrap, light general edgewear and creasing. Very good. Item #2992
