How to Make Origami. The Japanese Art of Paper Folding

New York: McDowell, Obolensky, 1959. 1st US Edition. Quarto, publisher's maroon cloth over checkerboard paper, spine stamped in black, original unfolded Japanese paper laid in, original dust jacket.

First US edition of this uncommon midcentury illustrated how-to guide on origami, originally published in Tokyo in 1958. Each figure includes illustrated steps and a finished model pasted down, with all 15 figures present. Lacking most of the starter set of unfolded Japanese paper, with two sheets present. Wear to clipped jacket with old tape repairs to verso. Corners bumped, a few occasions of light foxing. Illustrated spreads are bright, with occasional offsetting and indentations from origami samples to facing leaves. Good. Item #2616
