New York: Viking, 1986. 1st Edition. Thick octavo, publisher's black cloth over black paper-covered boards, spine and upper board stamped in metallic red, original illustrated dust jacket.

First edition of King's hefty 80s opus, about cosmic evil in the guise of a maniacal clown who terrorizes a band of misfits in small-town New England in the 1950s, and their final showdown 30 years later. Works just as well as a metaphor for Trump's America as it did for Reagan's, maybe better. The basis for a 90s television mini-series (starring The Rocky Horror Picture Show's Tim Curry as Pennywise the Clown!) and a 2017 feature film directed by Andy Muschietti (and with a screenwriting credit by Cary Fukunaga). Corners lightly banged, minor scuffing to edges of textblock; unclipped dust jacket with light rubbing to spine-ends and flap folds. Near fine. Item #223
