New York: Fischbach Gallery, 1995. 1st Edition. Quarto, publisher's off-white stiff paper wraps, spine and wraps lettered in black.
Exhibition catalog for a show of lyrical, soft-hued landscapes and still lifes by New York School painter Freilicher at the Fischbach Gallery, New York (March 2 - April 1, 1995). "Freilicher gives her canvases a thin wash of Venetian red before painting on them, and it's partly this that has the effect of muffling or deadening the light or even draining it, while replacing it with an alternative one the anounces a remarkable day, or moment; a time when light stood still to inform us that things really did look this way once, that this really happened" (from the introductory essay by Freilicher's friend, New York poet Ashbery). Illustrated with 15 color plates; with a checklist of works exhibited, list of exhibits and awards, and a bibliography. Some staining and soiling to wraps, bottom corner bumped with creasing to upper wrap and first few leaves. Very good. Item #215
