Special issue of Taiwanese design and lifestyle publication PPAPER, devoted to the photography of celebrated French-Tunisian menswear designer Slimane, former creative director of Dior Homme and Yves Saint Laurent. "I started at 11 with black-and-white photography. It has always been a natural and defining part of my life, a personal, intimate process...Starting with Nadar in the late 19th century up to the ’60s and ’70s, there is a French tradition of (not occasional but consistent) black-and-white portraiture...I do feel close or part of this tradition" (Slimane in a 2017 interview with the New York Times). In addition to Slimane's rich black-and-white portraiture, the issue includes a series on "Sweet Bird of Youth," an exhibit of emerging artists Slimane curated for the Arndt Gallery, Berlin, in 2007, which inlcuded work by Terence Koh, Nate Lowman, Dan Corlen, and others. Text in English and Chinese. Fine and unopened in original shrinkwrap. Item #214
