Tokyo: Shizenkan Co., Ltd, 1974. 1st Edition. Small oblong folio, publisher's illustrated stiff paper wraps.
Japanese exhibition catalog for a show of work by British artist Jones (Seibu, Tokyo, March 15 - 20; Meitetsu, Nagoya, April 26 - May 1, 1974). Along with David Hockney and R.B. Kitaj, Jones was among the founding generation of British pop artists of the early 1960s, best known for his fetishist aesthetic, in particular his infamous series of lifesize fiberglass multiples of women in bondage-wear molded as furniture. The Japan exhibits showcased Jones's caustic yet iconographic work in a range of media, including painting, drawing, lithography, sculpture and collage. Illustrated with over 100 color and black-and-white plates and photos. Text in Japanese; captions in Japanese and English; biography, chronology and bibliography in English. Published in cooperation with Marlborough Fine Art, London, and Marlborough Torii Fine Art, Tokyo. Spine strengthened, light general wear to wraps and spine-ends, two small abrasions to verso of final text leaf, affecting a few letters. A very good copy of a scarce and fragile catalog. Item #199
