Exhibition catalog for a show of 23 works by African-American multi-media artist Thomas at La Conservera Centro de Arte Contemporaneo, Ceutí, Spain (September 13 - November 22, 2009). Thomas's large-scale paintings (composed of rhinestones, acrylic and enamel), as well as her photos and collages, explore black female identity, sexuality, and cultural representation. She earned a BFA from Pratt Institute and an MFA from the Yale School of Art, and has done residencies at the Studio Museum in Harlem and the Versailles Foundation Munn Artists Program in France; she has won multiple grants and prizes, and has exhibited widely.
