Noguchi. Steel Sculptures

New York: The Pace Gallery, 1975. 1st Edition. Quarto, publisher's still metallic paper wraps, upper panel blind embossed.

Exhibition catalog for a show of steel sculptures by Japanese American artist Noguchi, illustrated with black-and-white reproductions from the Pace show as well as color photos from his first major retrospective at the Whitney. Noguchi used a wide range of materials in his work, but his first steel sculpture was a commissioned monumental plaque for the Associated Press at Rockefeller Plaza; he continued to use the material because of its ability to create tonal differences through polishing, but also because of its practical quality of being able to stand outside without deterioration, making it ideal his public works. Includes catalog of the exhibition, list of shows and select bibliography. Creasing to upper panel, overall light rubbing. Very good. Item #1595
