Tornado Alley
Cherry Valley: Cherry Valley Editions, 1989. 1st Edition. Octavo, publisher’s black cloth, upper board stamped in silver, original color C-print photo mounted photo-illustrated label.
First edition of this collection of short fiction and a poem by Willaim S. Burroughs, illustrated by noted underground comix artist S. Clay Wilson, and with a murky original color C-print photo of Burroughs (measuring approximately 3 1/2" x 5") mounted to the upper board by an early owner, and not called for by the publisher. Written late in his career, this gathering includes "Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28, 1986" (later titled "Thanksgiving Prayer") and the crime drama "Where He Was Going," both of which are recited by Burroughs on his album Dead City Radio (1999). Published by Charles Plymell’s imprint Cherry Valley Editions established by Plymell and his wife Pam (daughter of cut-up technique practitioner Mary Beach) after the couple moved to Allen Ginsberg’s retreat in the upstate New York village where he hosted friends and writers. Illustrated in black-and-white. No dust jacket, as issued. Original barcode sticker to lower board. Dried glue to left edge of mounted photo, faint soiling to lower board. Near fine. Item #13437
