First edition monograph, presentation copy, on the work of the legendary fashion photographer, inscribed to celebrity hairstylist and beauty industry pioneer Maury Hopson. The exclusive cover photographer for Cosmopolitan in the late 1970s and early 80s and progenitor of the "Cosmo Girl" look, Scavullo worked with many celebrities and other high-profile subjects on a variety of projects, including album covers and movie posters, while contributing work to Esquire and Harpers Bazaar. This career retrospective comprises over 200 black-and-white photos of a diverse array of cultural figures captured by Scavullo between 1948 and 1984 including images of Warhol and many Factory members (Joe Dallessandro, Candy Darling, Holly Woodlawn, Gerard Malanga), Janis Joplin, Salvador Dali, Paul and Linda McCartney, Gia Carangi, David Bowie, Grace Jones, Mick Jagger, Barbra Streisand, Donna Summer, Norman Mailer, Madonna, and many more. Hairstylist Maury Hopson made his break in the 1960s working for the renowned Mr. Kenneth (Kenneth Battelle), considered the first celebrity hair dresser. He left the salon to become a freelance stylist in 1965, embarking on what would become a multi-decade career. He worked closely with Elizabeth Taylor (he was a key member of her "glam squad" along with Scavullo and makeup artist Way Bandy), Marisa Berenson, and Sigourney Weaver, among many others.
