Left Bank Books, located in historic Greenwich Village, specializes in fine used and rare books in the fields of literature, art, photography, and philosophy. We also have many books on modern architecture and design, typography, book arts, fashion, film, music, theater and dance, as well as a curated selection of antiquarian books, ephemera, and signed first editions. We take our inspiration from the many bookshops and stalls along the banks of the Seine, as well as the rich cultural history of Greenwich Village.
HOURS: We are open from 10AM to 8PM Sunday-Thursday, and 10AM to 10PM Friday and Saturday
We regret to announce that after nearly 24 years in business Left Bank Books is closing up shop. It's a familiar story by now: the costs of maintaining a brick-and-mortar used and rare bookshop in Greenwich Village are simply no longer tenable. We expect to close our doors sometime in early-to-mid-March.
Until then all of our inventory is on sale at a 30% discount. We've got nearly 5000 titles in the fields of 20th and 21st century literature and the arts, as well as photography, film, architecture and design, children's books, history and philosophy. We also have rare and antiquarian selections, ephemera, and many signed or inscribed first editions. Our books range in price from $5 to $5000+, and all of them are now on sale.
We couldn't have lasted as long as we did without the patronage and support of our many loyal customers. We're grateful to you and will miss you and the neighborhood. Please visit us over the next few weeks to take advantage of our sale, get some great books, and say goodbye. And please spread the word.
